81,034,055 Views - BlipTV Video 2010 - THIS Little Track was dreamed up in the early summer of 1992 by Clark Hagins and it is a rather strange odd ball song for G.e. ,..yet ,.. it is quite well done ,..and today, turns out to be one of their biggest and best and most well known cuts. Coming from the 1992 "Agenda" CD ( The Same album with "White Black Thang"), this little three and a half minute diddy sounds almost nothing like the rest of the bulk of the G.e. catalog of music ,... ( But then again, it is likely that you could maybe say that about A LOT OF GREENHOUSE EFFECT SONGS !! ). "THIS TRACK seems to use a myriad of 1970's Songwriter ideas" Says Haggins in 2019 for ROCK CITY BLOGS. "WHEN I listen to this song, I hear Harry Nilsson, The Who, Heart, David Bowie, The Moody Blues, Dire Straights, even a little of Sting and the Police ,..maybe even Phil Collins and Steely Dan ( Laughs ) ... this one is probably the apex of G.e. cannibalizing their "Classic rock" vinyl collection as thoroughly as possible , biting off tons of ideas in one massive ( yet little ) Frankenstein !" Says Hagins. "I remember that this came at a time when I was living in this Playa Del Rey condo and was just doing alotta' shit on an acoustic guitar ,..setting up the framework ,..for the idea,.. this song began to develop well quickly ,.. and that little bridge part with the tangy little lead guitar addings may be key." On the Track , Hagins recorded the whole drum parts first, humming the song in his head as Studio Engineer Bill Krodel twiddled the knobs from California Recording facility El Segundo's Jet City Sound Studio's 1980's era Trident Console. "The drumming is insane good here ,.. probably one of my best studio captures ever of my drumming , I hear quite a bit of Keith Moon chops here ala Who's next, etc,. ,.. this one really got my best percussion to offer that day ,.... and it's a bummer because due to money issues ,..there are so many G.e. tracks where the drums are mere guide tracks , not necessarily my best stuff ,...just getting the job done to overlay the other instruments later , guitars and shit." Says Haggins. "People ( That Won't Back down )" remains today a G.e. classic and it has been seen and heard in so many Pro Surfing Videos ,..particularly those involving Metal Jimmy !! Entirely Recorded on June 7, 1992 ,... this Gem seems to pay zero homage to what was then the current "Alternative rock" movement and scene and more accurately reflects the Klos FM rock side of Hagins' brain.
